The NABCEP Associate Program is the most common industry credential, designed to prepare individuals for a range of careers in solar. The PV Associate is a great way for veterans and transitioning military personnel to obtain the fundamental skills and knowledge about the PV sales, design, installation, operation, and maintenance to be successful in the solar industryThe PVA program, which offers distinction in all sectors of the industry, is often the first step toward one of six more specialized and more advanced Board Certifications.Beyond the PVA Certification, Board Certifications demonstrate mastery of a variety of PV-related skill sets, and are of great value for career advancement.

To get started:

  • Check out the Job Task Analyses (JTAs) to learn more about the fundamentals covered by each Board Certification.
  • Identify the pathway you’ll take to certification:

    Education Pathway — Complete a course with a NABCEP Associate Registered Training Provider, and pass the PVA exam.
    Experience Pathway — Document at least 6 months of full-time equivalent photovoltaic work experience, and pass the PVA exam.

  • SOLAR CREDENTIALING FOR VETERANS

    With leadership from NABCEP, the Solar Ready Vets team has established GI BIll eligibility for the PVA associate exam, and our team is in the process of securing several others: NABCEP is proud to announce that the NABCEP Photovoltaic Associate (PVA) Program was recently approved by the US Department of Veteran Affairs to receive benefits under the GI Bill. Due to this momentous federal approval, veterans and military personnel transitioning to the civilian workforce can now apply for reimbursement of exam fees for all NABCEP PV – related exams.
